Catholicos

(Patriarch) Supreme Head of the Armenian Church. The Armenian Catholicoi are elected for life. The traditional seat of Catholicos of All Armenians is in Echmiadzin, near Yerevan. At the same time, the western Armenians kept the tradition of electing a Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia in Sis. After the Armenian Genocide in Turkey, the Cilician See was moved from Sis to Antilias, Lebanon.
