Robert Kocharyan
(Born
in 1954) President of the Republic of Armenia from February 1998. One
of the leaders of the Karabakh movement, he was elected the first President
of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in 1994 by the NKR Parliament, and
in 1996 following the nation-wide presidential elections. In 1997, he
accepted L.Ter-Petrossian's offer to become Prime Minister of Armenia.
